Blur 1

Blur can either be a good thing or a bad thing. In this article I will focus on the bad aspect of a blur. A blur makes a picture look unimportant at times. To prevent a blur from occuring you can either use a fast shutter speed , a flash or you can use the following techniques to stop your camera from moving.

1) Keep your elbows to your sides whilst taking the picture.
2) Slowly squeeze the shutter button rather than suddenly jabbing it as jabbing the shutter button causes the camera to jerk slightly.
3) If you own a tripod use it. You can by a cheap tripod for about R200.
4) Use any avalaible surface to stabilize your camera.

Exposure Compensation

You are not a good photographer and you don’t know how to use the manual controls.  You just need the exposure to be a little bit different from what the auto-exposure computer in your camera thinks it should be!!  How do you do that ?

Most of the new digital cameras have a feature called EV value. This feature changes the exposure without you having to meddle with shutter speeds and aperture.  EV value settings are generally: -1.0, -0.3, 0.0, +0.3, +1.0.  A setting of -1.0 will be a very dark picture.  A setting of +1.0 will be a very light picture.

Samsung S1060

I’ve got a Samsung S1060.  It is a truly remarkable camera. It has got 10,2 megapixels, 5x optical zoom.  There are two options for it’s macro mode: normal or super macro. The nomal macro’s distance from the subject should be+/- 15cm.  The super macro’s distance should be +/- 5cm.
